Biography: Anders Leonhard Zorn was born in Mora, Sweden and studied the watercolor medium under Egron Lundgren. After exhibiting a piece titled Mourning in 1880, he received many portrait commissions. After traveling throughout England, Spain, and North Africa, Zorn settled in Paris and began painting in oils and adopted in the Impressionist techniques. In 1893, he began creating commissions for the tycoons and politicians in the United States. Later in his life, he returned to Sweden and producing landscapes and genre scenes. Zorn was also a talented etcher and sculptor.
