Biography:
Jean-Guillame Moitte began his artistic career as a draughtsman, designing for the silversmith Robert-Joseph Auguste. He began receiving commissions for statues and decorations in 1738. Moitte won the Prix-de-Rome for sculpture in 1768 and in 1795, won the honor of creating a monument to Jean-Jacques Rousseau.
