Biography:
Lee Miller originated as a fashion model, which allowed her to meet famous photographer such as Edward Steichen and Arnold Genthe. At their encouragement and aide, she developed her own photography skills and also began studying lighting and design. She moved to Paris in 1929 and made the acquaintance of Man Ray. Through him, she met many figures of the Surrealist movement. She eventually began photographing for Vogue magazine. She married Surrealist painter, Roland Penrose in 1946.
