Biography:
Juste-Aurele Meissonnier moved from Italy to Paris to work for the Gobelins Manufactory. He became a master goldsmith in 1724 and was appointed designer for the king’s bedchamber and cabinet in 1726. He created designs for other clients in the French royalty and clergy and worked internationally for patrons in England, Poland, and Portugal.
