Biography:
Eustache Le Sueur first studied under Vouet and allowed his master’s work to have great influence on his early painting. After Poussin visited Paris from 1640 to 1642, Le Sueur was inspired by his work and he began painting in a more classical manner. His most important pieces were a series of paintings that depicted the life of Saint Bruno. Later in his life, he was influenced by Raphael, especially evident in his tapestry designs. Le Sueur helped found the French Academie Royale in 1648.
