Biography:
Robert Le Lorrain began working in the studio of Francois Girardon at the age of eighteen, where he taught drawing to children and oversaw the other pupils. In 1689, he won the Prix de Rome and studied there for two years. Instead of catering to his royal audiences, Le Lorrain began making wax models that were casted in bronze and then distributed to private collectors. He returned to Paris and began working for private patrons. He also worked for the king at Versailles where he decorated a garden sculpture for the Grand Trianon.
