Biography: Born in Nancy, George Lallemant moved to Paris at around the beginning of the 17th century. There he became a successful painter, printmaker, and draughtsman who was given many religious and civil commissions. His studio was a busy place and taught young Parisian artist such as Nicolas Poussin. Although Baroque art was popular during his career, Lallemant’s work stayed true to his Mannerist style.
