Biography: Dutch sculptor and architect, Hendrick de Keyser, spent most of his career in Amsterdam where he became the city’s municipal sculptor and architect in 1594. His most celebrated buildings are Holland’s first Protestant church, Zuiderkerk and the Westerkerk. In sculpture, de Keyser was particularly talented as a portraitist. However, he is remembered for the tomb of William the Silent in Delft.
