Biography:
Guido da Siena was a Sienese painter who lived during the 13th century. Nothing is known about his life. His only work is the Madonna and Child in the Palazzo Pubblico in Siena. The painting has an inscription dating it to 1221, but the date is controversial because its style dates it to fifty years later. The painting is an example of the Byzantine period in its use of iconography and linear patterns.
