Biography:
Coming from the long line of Caffieri Italian sculptors and metalworkers, Jean-Jacques was the younger brother of bronze caster, Phillipe. Jean-Jacques won the Prix-de-Rome in 1748 and studied antiquities in Rome for four years. Upon his return to Paris, he became King Louis XV’s sculptor and designer of metalwork. He also produced a series of busts for famous dramatist, Madame du Barry.
