Biography: Arnolfo di Cambio began his career as the assistant to Nicola Pisano on the 1265 pulpit for the Siena Cathedral. He spent most of his time between 1277 and 1300 in Rome before moving to Florence right before his death. While in Rome, he worked for Charles I of Naples, creating one of the earliest portrait statues since the ancient period. His most significant existing sculpture is the tomb of Cardinal de Braye in San Domenico at Orvieto. Arnolfo was also a recognized architect, working on the Florence Cathedral.
